Director

Sibel Erdem was born in Istanbul 1966. Her late father owned a furniture store, where she grew up learning her family business from her father and his craftsmen.

Sibel earned her degree from Istanbul University Faculty of Law and has a law firm in Istanbul since 1998. Her legal career never stopped her from pursuing her passion for vintage furniture and design. Over the years, she continued attending workshops on refurbishment and took private carving lessons from Hazım Erman. She is also a collector of vintage furniture and accessories.

She believes in the importance of sustainability. Instead of cutting more trees and producing new products, she prefers giving a new life to an already existing vintage or gently used secondhand furniture by giving it a fresh and new look.

Finally following her father’s footsteps, she started a project in Istanbul to refurbish products and sell them to support a project to prevent sexual violence against children in Turkey. When she realized that London is a hub for vintage furniture and products, she decided to open her business in London. This is where A Taste of Vintage was born.
